InstaFriday - #2

TGIF!!!!! Linking up here with Life Rearranged to give you a little peek at our week using my iPhone and Instagram (my favorite iPhone app!!!)

Valentine's day decorations are out! I LOVE this holiday and I am SUPER excited that we will have house guests from Chicago to celebrate with this year!

We had a TON of rain last weekend! Jack had to get out there and pump water off of the pool cover before it got too heavy!

"Operation Organization" continues at our house! I began to tackle the cleaning supply chaos under my kitchen sink! The shower curtain rod idea came from my favorite website in the whole entire world - Pinterest! Now I am just looking for the perfect baskets to organize the rest of the stuff under there!

Nick brought this Spanish worksheet home from school this week! I learned this stuff in my freshman year of high school and my son is learning this in Pre-K!!!

Nick (our future little architect/construction worker/police officer/Chicago Bears football player!) is finally playing with AND loving the unit blocks that "Santa" got him for Christmas!

Wednesday was "Teddy Bear day" at school!

Where he decided to name his favorite Teddy Bear, "Jack"!

The boys are currently obsessed with these "Glow In The Dark" Star Wars themed Gogurts!

Nate is finally starting to feel better from the yucky head cold he has been battling since last weekend!

Hope you had a fantastic week and thank you for taking the time to read my little blog!

Birthday Boys!

Nick became a member of the "Whole Hand Club" on the 2nd!!!

His most favorite thing about Birthdays in our house (besides presents!) is getting to eat birthday cake and ice cream on the "special birthday plate" for breakfast (the only time of year they are allowed to eat junk for breakfast, I promise!) "This is SO cool mom!"

You know what's even "cooler"?!?!? Getting to do it all over again 13 days later on Daddy's Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to my Nicholas & Jack, two of my three favorite boys in this whole world!!!

InstaFriday!

My first InstaFriday post - WOO HOO!!!

In my opinion, the iPhone app Instagram, is the BEST iPhone app EVER!!!! So every Friday I will be posting my Instagram pics from the week.

This wonderful blogger came up with this fab idea!!!!
life rearranged

So here is our week in review as captured by my iPhone camera!

Saturday - Date night for Jack & I! The 15th was Jack's birthday (a birthday blog post to come sometime this week!) so I made reservations to a popular steak restaurant in San Francisco (5A5 Steak Lounge) to celebrate. After our delicious dinner they brought Jack this special desert!

Sunday - It was a lazy pajama and football day! Nate was having so much fun playing with the toys he got for Christmas!

For the first time ever, I meal planned for the week (using this free printable I found on Pinterest!)! I can not believe I have not done this before, it felt SO good to get all my grocery shopping done on Sunday and saved me from having to go to Safeway everyday!

Monday - Happy MLK Day! On my way to the gym at 8:50am and what is THIS I see on my windshield?!?! FROST!!!!!!! Winter has officially come to the East Bay!

We had a surprise visit from our wonderful neighbors/California family! A plate full of freshly baked cookies! I love them, they are seriously the nicest family I have ever met and we are so blessed to have them in our life!

Tuesday - Picked up Nate's preschool registration packet. It finally hit me, my baby will be starting preschool in the fall ( IF he is potty trained, the way things are going...we are not holding our breath!!! ). Time is going by so fast, I wish I could freeze both of them at this current age forever!

Wednesday - Target shopping day!!! Notice the cart is overflowing with plastic storage containers?!?! One of my New Years "goals" was to get more organized, so I found this amazing blog through Pinterest and it has completely inspired me! I have been busy sorting & labeling all week. I will take pics and post my progress soon!

Thursday - A cold and gloomy day = Play-Doh fun! While Nate was napping Nick got very creative and made a Play-Doh lady he named "Nina", notice the purse he made for her!!! He said to me, "Mama - Every girl needs a nice purse", that's right my little buddy, I have taught you well!!!

Friday - RAIN!!!!! I have been waiting to wear my new rain boots all season! I love the rain so much and I think I was the only person in town this morning walking around in it with a smile on my face! Trust me my fellow Californians, if you had to live through just one Chicago winter you would be as excited as I am to see rain!!! I love California and I was born to be a California girl!!

Thank you for taking the time to read my little blog and I hope your week was as great as ours!!

10 on 10 - January 2012

I really love this monthly blog idea - Take 10 pictures on the 10th day of every month, finding beauty among the ordinary, everyday things in your life. I got the idea from my mommy friend Mel's blog:

and she got the idea from this great blog:

ten on ten button

So here are my 10 random pictures from our day:

#1. Breakfast time!

#2. Off we go to drop Nick off at school!

#3. Costco shopping - We are considering having the boys share a bedroom. I have been researching bunk beds and was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and saw these today. They are a great price, but I wonder how good the quality of the furniture is. Have you ever purchased furniture from Costco before?

#4. My healthy little lunch!

#5. Nick was very excited to show me the snowman he made in school today!

#6. Safeway shopping - I just love this grocery store BUT I am in here - Every. Single. Day. At 'Cheers' it may be cool if "everyone knows your name" but not so much at Safeway!

#7. After school snack - (Safeway cheddar bagels with honey crisp apples)

#8. Dinner time - (turkey tacos & homemade spanish rice)

#9. Bath time!

#10. Bed time story....goodnight!

Hope you enjoyed the little peek into our day and hope you had a wonderful 10th too!

2011 - A Year In Review

I have been talking about starting a blog since our big move, over sixteen months ago. So this year, I am finally taking the plunge!

I feel like 2011 flew by SO fast! It was a year filled with lots of highs and lows for me. But as the saying goes, "What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger", and it definitely has!

January:
We celebrated Nicky's 4th birthday with amazing new friends!!!

We flew back to Chicago for the first time since our move because I got to be a Godmother!

February:
I got a little creative & had these Valentine's printed out for Nick's very first Valentine's Day party at school!
This is also the ONLY picture I have for this month (taken with my iPhone camera). On our flight to Chicago the month previous, Jack accidentally, left our travel bag containing my brand new Canon Rebel t1i on the plane.

March:
Nick's preschool class went on a field trip to our local bakery and they each got to decorate a sugar cookie and cupcake for St. Patrick's Day!

His favorite part was being able to sample his work!

We spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon exploring Ocean Beach in San Francisco!

April:
SPRING BREAK!
This was the first time in my life that I actually spent spring break somewhere other than my own home!!! We hopped in the minivan and headed down to San Diego for a week of adventure. Our first stop was the San Diego Zoo!

I had the pleasure of meeting up with one of my wonderful Mommy friends!

We visited Legoland!

Where Nick rode his very first roller coaster!

Jack and I made a last minute decision to surprise the boys with a visit to Disneyland!

The highlight of my entire year was watching the boys faces light up when they got to meet Mickey Mouse!

Although, I think the highlight of Nick's year was his lightsaber fight with Darth Vader!

We got to stay at the historic and beautiful Hotel Del Coronado!

The boys had so much fun playing on the private beach...

and I enjoyed all the practice I got with my new camera!

May:
I ran my very first 5K and finished at 36:12! I am proof that you CAN go from a couch potato to runner!

We had some amazing house guests from Chicago and spent a gorgeous Sunday afternoon enjoying the best of Napa Valley!

And Nate got his first haircut!

June:
We made our second trip back to Chicago where we spent much needed quality time with family & friends!

Then it was back to California where we celebrated our 10 Year Wedding Anniversary in Monterey!

July:
Lots of swimming...

A day trip to Sacramento...

Another Mommy meet up, this time in San Jose...

A day trip to Tilden Regional Park...

A weekend trip to the Sequoia National Park, where we saw lots of big trees..

And had a very close encounter with a baby black bear!

August:
The boys obsession with Power Wheels and Ford Mustangs began!

Nate turned 2!

And we hosted our first BBQ / Pool Party at our house!

September:
Nick started Pre-K!

We went to the local fire house for a tour with Nick's class!

I had a much needed 'Mom's Night Out' with another Mommy friend!

And celebrated my Birthday in Napa Valley!

October:
I made a solo trip back to Chicago for a very memorable weekend with friends!

Ran my second 5k race (finished at 33.52!)

And of course, Halloween!!!!!

November:
We had our first ever family photo shoot, taken by another wonderful mommy friend of mine!

With a little help from the The Pioneer Woman, I brined....

and roasted, my very first Thanksgiving turkey!

And Jack & I had our first (and probably last) "adventure" to the Oakland Coliseum to see our Chicago Bears lose to the Raiders.

December:
Zeeb our Elf on the Shelf made his return and caused a little mischief this year!

Santa came to our house a week early!

And we went back home to Chicago to celebrate the holidays!

So this year I put a lot of thought into my resolutions for 2012 (I made 12 of them!) and I have been very busy the past week trying not to break them! Did you make a resolution for 2012? Did you break that resolution yet?!
